Swollen Fetlock advice please

A week ago today my mare came back from a ride fine, that night her fetlock was hind fetlock was huge, the swelling went half way up her leg and right down to her coronet band. The next morning the swelling at gone down to just the fetlock, it was still rather big and very hot. This last week the fetlock has stayed swollen to the coronet band. It is warmer than the other leg but no way as hot as when she first did it. The thing which is confusing me is she is hardly lame at all you really have to look carefully to see that she is slighty short on it.
Do you havee any ideas of what this could be? I am prepared to speak to the vet but wondered if you any of you had any previous experience or ideas.

it sounds like a wond gall..have you been doing hard work on hard ground e.g trotting on roads a lot or cantering on gravell, hard ground??....Wind galls usually disappear after a while however if you are concerened then you could put her on bute...but i dnt do anything for wind galls as they are usually gone in a couple of days with me....
defo call the vet if your unsure.
 
Could be an articular or tendinous windgall...or could be a sprain of the annular ligament, or even a mild tendon strain.
Who knows?
Your vet will be able to tell you...hope it's nothing serious.

She has permanent windgalls on her front legs, i did think this but as it is swollen from the fetlock to the cannon bone i didnt think it could be this, correct me if im wrong though. Im open for any advice, previous experience.

My pony had something sounding very similar, was a strained tendon sheath, needed box rest, loads of cold therapy & ended up having cortisone to get her sound. I really suggest that you call the vet, as any delay could affect the recovery. My pony however was very lame, like I thought she had a fracture. Good luck. Just a thought, but could it be an infection??
 
Have you thought about putting white clay on to help take the heat away. (like stay Sound) Also bute to help take away the swelling. Good luck
