My horse came in from the field yesterday evening with a swollen fetlock on the near hind. There is no heat and he is not lame, I cannot find any cuts or scabs. He does not mind me prodding and poking either.

I cold hosed him for 15 mins and turned him out again. This morning it is still the same just slightly less swollen.

He has got a small slit in his hoof wall that he sustained when he kicked his coronet band that has been gradually growing down. Could this be causing the swelling of something else ? I will obviously call the vet tomorrow but any opinions to why it could be swollen will be gratefully received 😊

Could be totally different however my mare put a 50% hole.in her ddft of the hind leg. She had swellong around and slightly above the fetlock and was 'off'rather than lame with it.
If still swollen then get it checked and scanned.

Probably just a strain from being sillu in the field but safer to check if the swelling doesn't go
