my mare has got swollen fetlocks on both hind legs, i'm not sure if it from being on box rest or from the pencillin (i no i'm paranoid)

she doesn't seem lame but i can't tell for sure because she's not allowed at of her box. she just seems stiff and a bit clicky, (if you get what i mean)

i can't really afford to get the vet out (i will if i have to) because i've had so many bills this year i've paid £1518.87

so far not including this months, which is going to be at least £500 (also ive seem to have mislayed marchs which is the worst one)

well done if you've got this far, i no it seems little a lot of waffle but i'd really appercaite some advice

How about ringing the vet and asking? Would you get charged for that? My mare's fetlocks used to swell when she was on box rest and she would get a bit stiff, even though she was in a big stable. What happens if you hose or cold bandage? Are you allowed to walk her round the stable? Does she stand in a corner, or does she potter about? I used to put stuff all over Tiggy's stable to try and make sure she had a reason to move from one thing to another (hid treats in her bedding, messy but effective; bits of twigs hung up to chew on; a treat ball; a log to roll about with her foot). Hugs.

I am not a vet, but it sounds like she has temporary windgalls caused by being stabled. My horse has these when he is stabled over night. Windgalls are more common in the hind legs.

I found stable bandages worked well for my horse. I would take off and reapply twice a day, gently massaging the leg whilst the bandages are off.

The clicking could be due to stiffness whilst being stabled.

It would be worth phoning the vet for reassurance and advice. I know my vet does not charge for this.
