swollen glands anyone else had them?

Hi Everyone

Just wondering if any of your horses have been coming in with swallen glands?

my boy came in yesturday with which looked like swollen glands. went down this morning and was ok swelling had gone down all seems ok he came in todayand everything was fine no swelling but he was brought in a bit earlier today

could this just be grass glands

A couple of the horses that I bring in have been coming in with swollen glands since we have moved into our summer fields and I am just putting it down to grass as they are down in the morning and up when brought in. My boys arent though :)

Have the farmers been spraying anything on fields close to you? My friend's horses glands swelled up occasionally when this happened, she would then keep them stabled for a day or so if she ever saw the farmers spraying anything, and the horses were fine.
 
One of mine does it every year when the spring grass come in . Scarey the first time you see it.... sets the mind racing . Not absolutely sure of the medical reason for it but he looks like a little hamster!
 
Probably "grass glands". My mare gets them when the spring grass starts and her son had them too, but much more noticeable. Think that you probably have nothing to worry about as a lot of horses get them in the spring.
 
It's grass glands. When first turned out onto gorgeous spring grass, piggy horses & ponies eat and eat and eat and eat. Their poor salivary glands have to work overtime and become swollen. Doesn't need any treatment except to watch their weight!
 
I noticed one of ours has grass glands today. I could hardly believe it, they've just gone out 24/7 and are still on the winter grazing with haylage and barley straw in the field, so I'm not sure where she found the grass.
 
Agreed....probably grass glands. My boy had them a couple of weeks ago, for several days, all gone now though. Nothing to panic about.
 
Yeah I agree it's probably grass glands, one of mine gets this every spring once the grass starts coming through. Tends to clear up after a couple of days!
 
My horse gets this at certain times of year, others on my yard have also been coming it with it, as mine wears a muzzle its not very pleasant when the comes in with it all swollen leaving an indent of the muzzle straps in his face. Whatever it is thats coming through he's obviously eaten enough to be allergic to.

As soon as it starts I feed him Naf D-tox or Equimins do a liquid d-tox, does the trick
