Star has been coming in on and off the last month or so with swollen glands, not underneath jaw but up around cheek bone etc. Vet has said before that this can be due to lack of grass this time of year and over using the jaw etc. Is this right? Does anyone else get this??

Just worry abit as she is in foal....temp is all ok

Yeah, a few of mine (including my in foal arab mare) have been doing the same. They just look like hamsters for a while and never seems to make them uncomfortable. Roll on spring grass season!

my friends gelding did this and had us all very worried and we were told by the vets it was due to the lack of grass, that was a coupe of years ago though.

My chap used to get this all year round at my previous yard (it started after he'd been there about 12months, which I thought was very odd!), vet said it was probably an allergy to something. Since moving to my new yard it hasn't happened once....thank goodness, as it is worrying!

Several of my horses have had this over the years and my old vet said it was the cold winds. It always came up when the cold wind was about and soon goes down again. I have noticed it on other horses at shows as well. He said they dont known why it does it but it was nothing to worry about. The horses were all perfectly alright and still worked well.
