My 6 year old TB X keeps having swollen hind fetlocks when I go down in the morning. With exercise the swelling goes down but it seems to come back after he has been stood in for a length of time. He is not lame at all although he does currently have a touch of mud fever which probably isn't helping. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do? I'm just worried that this swelling can't be good for him.

I find my Bioflow magnetic boots to be invaluable in keeping my mare's legs from swelling. I have no idea whether it is actually the magnets doing the work, but I just know that if I don't put her Bioflows on she will have fat legs in the morning! Bandaging doesn't work half as well as the magnets either.

My horse had swelling in the fetlocks in january and is fine (i put a post in here and had helpfull replies.

One of our other horses legs swell up when he has been left in his stable for too long - our experience has been to not keep in stable for too long a period

My mares legs do this, paticularly the back ones. I find that it usually happens on very cold nights where the circulation just isn't as good at it would be in warmer weather. I stable bandage and they are fine. However if his legs go back down again I would be tempted to just leave them. If in doubt ring your vet for advice over the phone
