I woke in the middle of the night to find Alf peeing on the floor :( very unusual but i put it down to a one off. However through the night he has peed on my bed, whilst he was lay down and again on the floor, and drank a massive bowl of water. Somwething was obviouslt wrong so off to the vets we went. She had a feel and stated his prostrate was quite swollen indicating a problem. The fact it had come on so sudden she has put down to an infection and prescibed anti biotics and anti inflamatories.

She also said however it could be something more so im a little worried :(

He seems ok in him self and hasnt pee'd inside today so that good, but just wondered whether anyone had any advice to offer on how i can help him get better, other than the drugs and could this be something else??

My fella has this, went away with anti-biotics (he also had a very aggressive UTI/bladder infection) and just isn't properly put together down there :o

He has been fine ever since, must be over 18 months ago now. We neutered him so as to have two less things to get infected :p is Alfie done?

B's condition was quite extreme due but I am sure Alf will be fine with drugs :)
Maybe add a bit of natural yoghurt to his food or some aloe vera juice for his gut while the anti-bs are getting to work.

B's personality did not change one jot after neutering (he was done at 18 months) and to be honest he got a lot better with other dogs (although I was putting a lot of training on him at the same time) and he's still a lean, mean mental machine :p if anything, on the skinny side, and I wouldn't give it a second thought as long as it helps stop the infections :)
