Hi all, for the third year in a row my boy has been suffering with a swollen sheath as soon as the flies come out to play. Feel at my wits end as I've tried everything I can think of! Had vet from yard owners advice who thought it may be cancer since her old pony had it. Nothing wrong with him (this was 3 years ago) every year since in spring summer it flares up. It's quite hard, not soft and fluid like. He does have a scarcoid on his sheath that causes no problems. Tried all the fly creams in my tack shop. Only thing to stop flies biting was coating it all in sudocrem but his flaps his tail and it's all off and then his tail is an utter mess. Not good for show season. At the minuet I'm using that bright yellow fly/midge cream but it's not doing anything.
His sheath has never been cleaned and he won't let you near it, it bad enough trying to doge flying kicks on a daily basis creaming him up.
Does anyone have any advice?
He's well in himself - eating/pooing/being ridden/lunged etc
Wanted to try stinky stuff? But not heard of any reviews from people using it on sheath
