Hi all,

Now that it is getting warm again (after what seemed to be the longest winter of all time) the flies are attacking poor Freds bits like crazy!!! What is best to put on the area? Any good recommendations for fly spray or other??? Also, something that wouldn't upset his sarcoids too much either as the flies love them too : (

Thanks

Ermmm I only ever really use Naff off, which generaly does the trick round me...... also I am not sure how it would effect sarcoids......

Id ask the vets for the sarcoid effector! not sure if you would need super strength fly repellent if they are that bad (in which case I am useless)

Someone said feeding them..... garlic I think it was also helps to repel them (although how true, I dont know!)

Feed marmite sandwiches and use coopers fly repellent around the sheath. It used to happen with a shire we had at my work and it worked a treat!

'summer fly cream' it's in a white pot with a blue label with black text. it's bright yellow!... can be used on broken skin. great stuff!

coopers although fantastic is pretty potent stuff so i would think it would sting on sensitive skin...

Marmite Sandwiches?!

Sounds weird but a teaspoon of marmite a day on a piece of bread as a sandwhich or in their feed can really help keep the flies away!

I used udder cream on Branston. OK, it's not anatomically correct, but it soothed existing bites and repelled flies at the same time.

ETA: Yeah, but Katie, that would keep ME away if it was my pony. I'm on the HATER side of Marshite.
