Advice please.
28 year old fit working mare.
I noticed yesterday she has a very swollen vulva, worse today.
I’ve cleaned with warm plain water and put plenty of Vaseline on. Has anyone any ideas?
If it’s no better tomorrow night, I’ll contact the vet.
I’m after ideas and advice. I’ll try and attach some photos of 1st Oct, then 2nd Oct, I can’t upload today’s photo. I’ll keep trying.

I wonder if this, like swollen sheaths , could be a side effect of cushings in an elderly horse.
Presumably you've checked she hasn't been rubbing and injured herself inside to cause an infection.
The vet always advised bute for the swollen sheath which took the swelling down pretty well.
Hopefully the vet will have an answer for you.

My mare had this quite a few years ago.
To my shame I’d not noticed the underside of her dock had become mucky and caused a sore on the dock.
She had been excessively swishing her tail as a result and this had in turn irritated her vulva causing it to swell.
After a good clean and keeping an eye on it it went down within a week.
