I have a sycamore tree in one of my summer paddocks - I only this part of the field in the summer partly for this reason… but the damn seeds have started dropping in July! I think y eh cold weather last week has confused to tree and it thinks it’s Autumn! So if anybody has sycamore trees around your grazing keep a look out for seeds falling. 🌱

I’ve fenced off the area this evening - luckily it’s not a huge amount of grazing lost and not an area they tend to eat in much anyway!

I have 5 trees along the back of my track and they fall from June onwards every year. I have to close it off until they have all fallen and then I do a mega clean up and they are allowed back on it.

How do you clean up? Mow it or rake it? I attempted raking tonight before I fenced it off as they were dropping as I was raking and there was no way I could get them all.

I use a leaf blower to get them into the same general area then I rake them and put them in a feed bag and burn the lot. Once I’ve done that I mow with the collector box so if any have seeded they are cut.

I've noticed some coming down off the three on one edge of my field. Not many yet, but looks like there are masses up there. At the moment just getting a handful of so and a fair few 'wings' where the parakeets are getting tucked in!

Used a lawn rake last year to get them, then pulled any that germinated. Needless to say that bit was fenced off until cleared.
