Hi everyone.... not been on here for agesssss due to being busy at university and terrible for getting distracted.... anyway, I have a question for you all if you don't mind?

I am trying to find out as much information as possible on Sydney K stock. I have a gorgeous 2 year old filly by him and am interested in other peoples experiences of putting their mare to him. I know a couple of people that have lost their foals so I can't ask them obviously! One of the main reasons for choosing him for my mare is that she is a real diva and his temperament is amazing! He has certainly stamped his temperament on her and she is a beautiful big moving filly that is already showing signs of becoming a top class show jumper - don't ask, but can I just appologise again to my neighbour for her unexpected arrival over the fence *embarrassed grin*.

Let me know your thoughts and experiences please as I adore my Dotty and think everyone should have one <3

I have a 3yr old colt by him. Lovely mover. I don't think this has anything to do with Sydney k but my lad is scared of his own shadow. Say boo and he runs a mile. Even putting a head collar on I have to be careful as one false move and he's gone! His mother isn't a bit like that and his younger half sister from a different stallion is like the mother. I couldn't get her to stand to plait her mane for the futurity. I had to sit on the floor and plait!

Sorry I'm not being any help. We are keeping our lad entire for now though as he is a very nice sort and we want to keep our options open. Oh we have also had to collect him from neighbours fields. But he jumped out after spooking at something, I was watching at the time and he just turned and jumped!

I wrote a really long and interesting reply to this earlier and then the pooter crashed and I lost it!! Thanks for the info, Dotty can be a bit of a wuss but then if you met her mother you would appreciate just what an impact Sydney K had on the temperament! Just out of interest, what colour is your boy and if he is coloured is he a "frame tobiano" ie a coloured with dark feet and legs, white on the middle of the sides of his body and neck and extensive white on his head? I am trying to see what sort of colouring the stallion is throwing...... thanks again, good luck with him as an entire, if he is anything like his dad he should be quite popular :-)

There are 2 fillies by me for sale, both are by Sydney K. I can't comment on their temperaments because I don't have any connection with them but they are certainly quality fillies with nice movement. One is bay and the other is coloured.

well as i'm not very into 'colours' as he is the only one we have and was actually breed by my mum, i have tried to get a pic of him for you but sorry, its really not a good picture, the computer will only allow me to up load this one.

Thanks for the info, solid colour foals mean that he is not homozygous for the coloured gene then.....I thought as much :-(

It is not a bad photo for showing his colouring - thanks! Although your boy is a Tobiano, he appears not to be a "Frame" tobiano but as I am new to the genetics malarky and the inheritance of colour, if anyone thinks differently feel free to correct me :-) I think it is all fascinating

Hi,
I too have a Sidney K filly (3 years old now)She is out a of Grey Arabian mare & is very dark- black legs - but now starting to "roan" - she will eventually be an iron grey I think(which makes a mockery of the passport as she was described as bay when born!)She is home bred;- I chose Sidney K for his laid back temperament to balance out the dams ultra sharpness!!
Have shown her in hand at local shows & she has recently been prof. broken. She is every bit as sharp as her mother but has the sires kindness.
Its interesting that you mention your Dotty as being a big mover...Poppy has that in spades too!
As for the colour - I have spoken to several people who have had Sidney K foals - none of them have turned out coloured. But thats horses for you!

I have a 5 yo mare by Sydney K she's out of a 1/4 fresian 1/4 Welsh D dam and is dark bay with one small white sock and no face markings.
She was completely left to her own devices until I bought her as a 5yo (essentially wild) and has been a total joy to break and bring on. From starting ground work she was ridden away in less than a month and has the loveliest temperament. She's definately hot but never silly she has a great brain and also has a talent for jumping out of her field like her siblings by the sound of it!
