Since we got home from our walk about an hour ago Alfie (1yr old ESS) has been behaving oddly. Has his tail tucked under his bum, doesnt want a cuddle, visibly shivering but nose a bit too warm. Have just made an appointment with vet for 4pm, they couldnt say if those symptoms indicate anything specific and suggested the visit, Im happy to go along but anyone any ideas. His vaccs are all up to date, he did have a paddle in the flood water but has been dryed off. The other dog who was walked with him is fine, asleep in her normal spot of the sofa.

It could be that he's hurt his tail swimming. Very painful, almost like cramping of his tail muscles especially if he's been swimming in cold water and the air temps cold also.

If it is that it'll be pain killers and he'll soon be better. Won't want to wag for a bit though :-(

Let us know xx

Thanks everyone. Pleased to say vet couldnt find anything, heart, temp etc all normal. He cleared his anal glands as he said they felt a bit full when he did temp, they werent too bad and unlikely to be the cause of the odd behaviour but will make him feel better. Needless to say he perked up when we arrived at the surgery door. I was babysitting last night but OH kept a close eye on him and after a good nights sleep he does seem more himself this morning. Will watch him closely, hes not limping and all 4 paws seem fine so maybe he just tweaked something, he is a bit of a baby so could well be that! £40 well spent though to know he wasnt majorly ill :)
