What a sad but in a way beautiful photograph. I'm so glad Paddy was there to offer comfort at the end. He is a credit to jockeys and the love and respect they have for horses.

I had read somewhere that he had broken his shoulder on landing badly over fence 11?
Such a sad and heartbreaking photo, at least he had someone with him who cared.
That mccoy can be clearly seen on tv before the race saying "for ******s sake" if you lip read him. He was only ever interested in winning and starting he didnt give a shoot if the horse got damaged/hurt etc so long as he got starting! The horse should never have been allowed to start, he was not up for it at all even from the clips in the saddling area right through to the first fence you knew he didnt want to go...... poor wee critter

It was ATP that broke his shoulder not Synchronised.
AP could have been swearing because he realised very quickly that he was going to be damned if he did and damned if he didnt get back on the horse! i.e he was the favourite lots of people with money on him would want to know why he didnt get back on, conversly, if anything went wrong during the race people would question why he did get back on the horse!
or he could have been cheesed off because he got dumped in front of a watching nation!

It was According To Pete who broke his shoulder, I don't think we've had confirmation of the exact injury to Synchronised anthough everybody says hind leg/hock

You can clearly see in the pictures of According to Pete that he broke his hind leg and also at the race you could see him getting up and trying to run with it broken
