Synthetic bridles

Thinking of getting synthetic bridle that's easy clean for hacking. Fed up cleaning my leather bridle!! Are webbing ones better than than the leather look? Not particularly bothered about fancy colours, black will do!!

I had a webbing bridle years ago and it frayed all around the holes etc, and went all horrible! (Can’t imagine that was very safe).
Personally I’d go with the leather look stuff.

I had a Libby's webbing bridle a few years back now. It didn't take long before it went rusty all around the buckles and the holes. Don't think Libby's are in business anymore: their stuff is sold by Polypad I believe?? (not sure).

I have a lovely "two-in-one" combination synthetic bridle which was made for me by Performance Equestrian (Steve). It is basically a headcollar and a bridle combined and I can clip the bit on and off as needed. Very handy piece of kit! You can get all sorts of colours (even black & brown!) and lots of different styles including bitless.

Another good place to go (presuming you're in the UK) is Pioneer Endurance (Zoe). Again lots & lots of choice.

Get some endurance tack made of biothane. Pioneer Endurance and a few others stock them. Sorry, I see it has already been mentioned.

Yes, biothane is the way to go. I have a black one one that I use for winter (I am also lazy) and it's great. Mine is a Zilco endurance bridle; it has a built in headcollar and you can unclip the bit hangers when you've stopped at the pub

I did not pay £87 for mine! I think it was more like £50 in a sale somewhere. But it's definitely worth it. It gets dunked in a bucket of hot water occasionally and doesn't seem to wear at all.

ETA - the sizing is quite small as they're designed to fit Arabs. I have a 15hh cob and he wears a Full.

I'm v v happy to recco Zoe at Pioneer. She will make to measure at not much extra cost. Tired B...
My hacking bridle is bright orange, so B is very easily spotted....
I have the headcollar one, if travelling out to hack I go fully tacked up and then just clip on the cheeks with bit and reins attached.

So easy in all aspects.

I recommend Zilco, I have had mine for years, Trec, Endurance and hacking. I have cob size on mine, fits both ponies, wash /scrub in a bucket and hang up to dry.

I have a zilch neck strap. I don't think that would ever break!! Will look thanks!

I much prefer biothane to webbing - you can just shove it in a bucket or under the tap when it gets wet, sweaty, muddy or sandy.

I love the endurance bridle types as having a headcollar/bridle all in one is so handy.

Can highly recommend Zoe Lindop at Pioneer or Plas Equestrian as had great service from both.

My daughter has a Zilco for endurance. Drop it in a bucket of water after a ride, always looks as good as the day we bought it. Fittings all steel and very good quality. Def worth the money! Often wonder about getting one myself but am a bit dull and like traditional

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but if these bridles are made of biothane, then as I understand it, biothane is either coated with PVC, or TPU.
PVC is the most environmentally damaging of all plastics. The PVC lifecycle, production, use, and disposal, results in the release of toxic chemicals which is building up in our water, air, and food chain. And TPU may contain siloxanes, some of which are considered substances of very high concern by the European Union.

I'm sure one could say that 1 bridle more or less made of biothane doesn't make a difference, but people should at least be aware of what the coating making biothane products so easy to own, is made of.
