No. You must always use synthetic on synthetic saddles, and leather on leather saddles. Otherwise, you will mark your saddle and will actually seriously damage your saddle by wearing through the panel.

i totally disagree with donklet. i've used wintec webbers on 2 of my leather saddles for over a year now, and they haven't marked at all, nor damaged the leather.
S_D, they are also a lot more comfortable, for you and horse (pressure area from bulky buckle and 3 thicknesses of leather has been shown to transmit through to horse)
bettersaddles does leathers with loop at top, they are like webbers but made of leather with a nylon core. i have 1 pair and they've been excellent.
Hi K how are you? and thank you, there are too many choices these days, i will have a look at those ones. I have the wow ones on my nick dolman, i must try riding without stirrups with them as when i tried using them on the wow they dug in and bruised my legs lol!. I just thought the synthetic may be cheaper and someone said they dont stretch.
hi, good ta! the synthetic ones are good, £20 ish iirc. the bettersaddles ones are about £40 ish, i got both so i could compare strength etc and decide which ones to use for xc. neither stretch, fwiw.

I also use them and haven't had a problem. Maybe it depends on quality/type of leather saddle is made of?
My NF pony came with her tack when I bought her 10 years ago and had webbing 'leathers' on a leather saddle. We've only recently binned them as they were looking tatty. They've not marked the saddle any more worse than 'normal use'.
