Can anyone recommend any nice synthetic stirrup leathers? I currently have thorowgood ones but they are very stiff and quite bulky (and are too short anyway which is why I am in need of new ones)

Any opinions? Wintec?

Thanks :)

I had some wintec ones and they were stiff too so replaced them with english leather ones, to be honest where stirrups are concerned I'd rather have good quality english leather than synthetic .

I had thought that all synthetic leathers might be like that but hoped otherwise! I have a synthetic saddle which is why I was looking for synthetic leathers, as I was always told to use like with like but I know many people use leather leathers with synthetic saddles without a problem so I might resort to that.

The Wintec slimline leathers are quite soft and as it says on the label they are slimline so no bulk under the leg! Plus much easier to clean. I've used them on a leather saddle with no problems.

All the standard synthetic stirrups straps are equally as horrible as each other! The wintec slimlines are only a little better.

Why not try the dressage style straps with the T-bars - much easier to change and a lot less bulky.

Or you could just use real leathers - I've used them for years on all types of synthetic saddles with no problems - you sometimes get an oil mark with cheaper onces but they don't wear the flaps any quicker.

I've got some synthetic leathers and they look exactly the same as leather unless you inspect them carefull. Can't remember the name though. I prefer them to leather for everyday use as they don't stretch. I keep my leather ones for showing.

I had some Wintec synthetic leathers and they were blimmin useless; didn't last very long at all, and looked OK one minute, and the next they had a rip in them which would have been very dangerous if I'd not noticed it.

I wouldn't touch synthetic "leathers" with a bargepole personally. IMO you can't beat a good pair of English leather leathers.

We use leather on a synthetic GP saddle and they are fine. Did start off with synthetic and although they were not particularly bulky were so stiff to adjust.

The Keiffer ones, look and feel like a soft leather, certainly better looking synthetic leathers then any others I've seen and used, I actually prefer them real leathers.

I have a pair of wintec slim ones, I find them fine for everything, also used ordinary leathers with a synthetic saddle no probs. I decided to try the synthetic leathers as ordinary leathers kept wearing out, I hunt and ride alot generally, so far so good with the wintecs.
