We had an excellent day, although a slightly stressful start when I realised that I had left my show cane at home, so legged it back home and then to the yard again, all by 8am. Genie is getting better and better at loading, now getting excited when she hears the lorry arriving and taking me up the ramp.

Our first class was the ridden M&M, which I felt was a strong class. Was very pleased when we were pulled in 5th, and she was hoof perfect in her show. The four placings above us all switched around, but we remained unchanged in 5th so a good resullt, even if it meant I got ANOTHER pink rosette! (I hate pink)

We then rushed her back to the lorry and had to plait her for the ridden cob. As she's welsh I do a running plait down her mane, and plait her entire tail and tape it up, to show her as she would be if she were hogged and docked. Half an hour and an ice lolly later (and a bucket of water for Genie) we were back in the ring.

The judge intially pulled us in 6th and I was pleased as it was another strong class with 11 entrants. When I went to do my show the judge commented on how nice it was to see a welsh done up how it should be for a cob class (cue a beaming smile from me!). Once again Genie was hoof perfect for me, and I was thrilled with her. However I was not expecting to be pulled in second! A certain welshie had a few mints after that class!

I did however make my Mum giggle (she rarely comes to see us at shows, but has been doing so more often recently) when I went cantering past her rather quickly saying 'I can't stop the b****y thing!'. Genie seems to get stronger the more we do and the hotter it gets! The only negative comment that she had from the judge was that she is too forward going, and I can deal with that!

All in all, an excellent day out! We were going to do a clear round but it was so hot, the ground was like concrete, and Genie had done so well so had a relaxing time eating at the lorry before we headed home.

Excellent day, well done...any pictures? Where was the show, I'm local to the area but was working yesterday so no idea where it was.

Hello! I live just down the road in winterbourne and have been there many a time to watch! Haven't got my horse yet in the process of looking. Where do you keep your horse?

You don't happen to know of a 15.2-16h cob for sale do you!

Well done at the show

Tom

Hi Fi, I was there yesterday I did look out for you but I was on my way home by 10.50 as it was soooo hot and it was soooo busy I dont think they realised it was going to be such a popular show! I did the youngstock class with my 2 year old Arab and it was hilarious, about 14 Welshies from a's to c's and 6 bigger ones us included, the judge wanted to split the class but wasn't allowed by the organisers? anyhow we got 5th which I was really pleased with as we were the only big one to get placed!!!! top 4 were welsh a's and then us and then a welsh again...I felt a bit sorry for the other big ones in the class as it was hot and a large class so lots of standing around and we were swarmed by horse flies - well done with Genie sounds like you had a fab day. We will meet up eventually LOL are you going to Sorcy? its on the 28th at Ashton Court.

Awww we missed each other again! It really was rather busy! I think my friend was the 6th placed Welshie... a little grey roan filly I believe she has. I was busy getting ready for the M&M when that was on so missed you.

There really were a lot of horse flies around yesterday weren't there? I felt really mean in the cob as I taped Genie's tail up so she couldn't get the flies with her tail, and they bothered her even though we plastered her in fly spray.

I won't be at SORCY, my next one is Horton on July 4th I believe. You going to that?
