So my wagon is off for its plate on Friday and after reading on here about tacho calibration I thought I'd better check mine. It does have a small sticker but it say 8000, no date or anything. There does look to have been other stickers in there but they have been removed. Any ideas what my sticker is all about and am I right in presuming I havent got what I need

You will need to get it callibrated before the test and when you take it to the test station for the test ask for the tacho exemption form which you should complete and tick section 4.

[/ QUOTE ] I would just take it for the test, fill out the tacho exemtion form and let the tester decide what is what...

I think if the seals are intact in the head and on the cable to it and it has the stickers inside where you open the front to put the chart (disk) then you should be fine..
on trucks with the drawer type tacho (looks a bit like a radio)
they oftern have a sticker stuck to the door jamb or seat base (white with a red line round it) with the settings/values written on it... hope this helps

Thanks everyone, I rang the mechanic to pre warn him it may need this tacho thingy sorting out and he said not to worry, he took one today, they asked about tacho, he said its a horsebox so its exempt and they said to fill out the exemption form and passed it so I'll have to see what happens.
Mine isnt speed restricted, if that makes a difference?
