Tack and sea water

Hey, just wondering if anyone knows how sea-water effects leather tack??

Ummm! Badly!!!

Need to really clean it well, it's the salt that does the damage

In the same way as horse sweat does I assume; dries it out and rots the stitching! Give it a really good rinse clean in warm water then plenty of oil

Have you had a bit of beach fun?

Just clean it asap, I'd wash down with plenty water first to remove the salt then a regular clean and an oil.

No not yet but was thinking of going, maybe i wont go too far in to sea as i dont want ruined tack !

It trashes it ! Bare back and use a headcoller with ropes attached, if your horse is sane enough.
