Hello,

This Friday at my college we are having a Tack and Turnout showing class and I was wondering what I should wear?

Its very laid back competion and even college uniform is acceptable but I thought id make the effort :p

Im 16 and haven't done showing before so I don't have showing gear so would a old school shirt, tie, cream jodhpurs, jodhpur boots with clips be suitable? Or should I wear chaps? (I don't have leather ones!)

Many thanks :)

Iron your shirt well and look up some vids of how to get a great shine on your boots. That will show evidence of time and effort. Good luck. (Keep a layer on top of your clean clothes while getting g your horse ready!)

No chaps! Clean boots - don't forget the soles. Tweed jacket, well ironed shirt and discreet tie with tie-pin and wear gloves. Make sure your pony/horse is plaited well and has oiled feet, a tangle-free tail and a well-groomed coat - tack beautifully clean - but you obviously know all that! Good luck and have fun.

If you have a V Neck jumper wear it over the shirt and tie.

It will be easier to keep clean, you will be warmer and looks very smart.

Don't forget to pop the buckle pin through all the holes in the leather to remove the soap build up.

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for the advice, I did have a look at the thread Thursday night and put it all in action :) I came 5th in my class which isn't too shabby for a grey horse that enjoys to roll :P

Thanks again! :)
