Am thinking of entering T&T class at local show with young horse. I have never did a T&T class before and I was wondering what the correct turnout for horse and rider is?

i am interested in doing one of these too - i have a chunky black mare - tbxclydedale mum and hackney dad, i have NO idea about showing so need basic instructions!

yeah only one of her at the mo as shes new - she has lost some tum since this was taken..

Ok, it is pretty much just about attention to detail!

Bridle- (brown is correct) make sure all your keepers are in and your noseband/ flash straps are tidy.
Ensure bit ends are clean too.
You could wear a double bridle or rugby pelham if you and your horse are happy in them, if not an ordinary snaffle will be fine.

Saddle- to match your bridle.
Make sure again all the straps are tucked in and you have girth guards on the straps.
Wear a thin cotton numnah, which is a good fit for your saddle and matches your horse.
Clean bottoms of stirrups etc.

Horse- try for 9 or 11 nice even plaits on the neck and 1 in the forelock, tidy whiskers/ears/fetlocks/bottom of tail etc.
I would put quarter markings too.
Pulled or neatly plaited tail.
Make sure Dock, eyes and nose are clean.
Hoof oil inside of foot and bulbs of heels as well as outside hoof.
A little baby oil on the tail, knees and hocks adds some shine. I don't personally put any on the muzzle but you can if you like!)

Rider- Personally I would wear a tweed jacket with a matching shirt and tie, but you could wear Navy or Black with matching Hat. (not a skull cap with silk)
Gloves to match.
Cream Jods.
Hairnet!!!
Show cane or plain whip.
Ideally spurs are appropriate, but not essential.

Sorry if you already know most of that, I just worked my way through all the obvious stuff...
Good luck!

well thats me pretty much out then as..

Ensure bit ends are clean too.

WOULD A FLASH NOSEBAND BE OK?

Wear a thin cotton numnah, which is a good fit for your saddle and matches your horse. HAVENT GOT ONE! ONLY WHITE ONE - WOULD I NEED A BLACK ONE?

Cream Jods.
Hairnet!!!
Show cane or plain whip. ONLY HAVE SCHOOLING!
Ideally spurs are appropriate, but not essential.HAVE SPURS BUT WITH NYLON STRAPS.

ME THINKS I SHOULD STICK TO JUMPING!

No numnah would be better than white if your saddle is ok without one.

see if you can borrow a show cane - or if you have time you can get them for a few pounds on ebay sometimes.

For tack & turnout dont worry so much about what you havent got but worry about what you HAVE got. make sure everything is spotlessly clean.
if you've got a mate there get them to wipe the bottoms of your boots when you get on ! ive seen them checked in a condition and turnout class before when the marking was strict!
tack & all gear should be clean and smart within an inch of its life.
horse should most definately be freshly bathed day before etc.
on the white legs apply chalk when legs still wet from bath - then stable bandage, when you take them off in the a.m they will still be sparkly. if horse is in the habit of pooing down back white leg then spray the hell out of it with coat shine.
give hooves a good scrub with a stiff brush when bathing, and paint a few coats of hoof oil on on the show day allowing to dry between coats.
good luck have fun!
