I am one of life's sad people who actually enjoy tack cleaning .... and wouldn't give a thank you for someone else to do it! Apologies if these are numpty questions or have been asked before ....

I read somewhere that you can add a small drop of washing up liquid to the water to remove grease but also that vinegar removes mould spores. Is it just a question of adding a splash to the washing water? Does this dry out the leather? Unfortunately our tack room is damp and unused tack has a tendency to grow!

Also if anyone has used Horseman's one step - are you meant to wash the mud and grease off first? My usual products are the no 1 and no 2 sprays but thought I would give this a try.

Any helpful tips would be much appreciated - thanks

yep. literally a tiny drop of washing up liquid . vinegar is a good idea. I bring my tack into the house in the winter.otherwise it goes moldy if its warm and wet or gets very cold if its frosty.
Horsemans One Step is a revelation. wish I'd had it years ago. only need to wash off the mud etc if its quite apparent. under normal sort of usage I just apply the cream.
