Tack Colors

Good evening! I was wondering how you all decide on tack colors based on your horse's coat color? Is there a science to it or is just down to personal preference?

My girl is making it very difficult for me to decide as there are so many things that would look lovely. She's a dark bay who darkens considerably (almost black on neck, legs, and head) in winter, we'll hopefully be eventing even though we are both show jumpers.

Already decided against hot colors or dark colors like navy or olive, but that still leaves a huge amount of choices. ? I was thinking Gold/Caramel, or perhaps a Plum or a Burgundy, but I'm open to anything.

The world is your oyster with her colouring. I can see how it's difficult to decide. I'd try gold.
You could also go for dark yellow/ mustard, if you're feeling more daring. Although maybe that counts as a hot colour.

There are some nice shades of greens in saddle pads. They would look nice on a bay.

You could look at le mieux pads on the internet to find a colour you like and then get a cheaper brand if you'd prefer. There's a brand that does le mieux type colours but is cheaper. I can't remember the name of it though. Also don't forget to look at blues.

I did love the mustard color! That was one of my first choices, but then I saw caramel in the similar colors suggested and my family preferred that. Me competing is very much a family affair so everyone has to like it.

I do remember looking at le mieux, they have some lovely stuff. I love ES Stockholm's pads, they're really beautiful although a little pricey, they don't seem to do GP pads though?

I see what you mean about ES Stockholm not having gp pads. That's strange. Although, I have a jump pad that I use with a gp saddle and I really like how it looks but you'd have to be sure about it. I got the jump one by mistake and it turned out to be nice so I didn't exchange it for a gp.

Oh weatherbeeta's are lovely!

I don't mind if its a jumping pad, show jumping will be our main focus in shows, so as long as I can use it with a gp saddle for dressage and eventing then its fine.
