Tack colour?

Would you put black, or brown tack on my Roo. It will be a while before I have saved up for a nice leather saddle, but I was just wondering what colour you think she'd look best in?

black, brown tack seems to discolour more, especially under the stirup leathers! i like black or london tan on dark bays

I probably go for brown but make sure it's a dark brown/havana type colour rather than anything with a reddy/chestnutty tone.

Does he go all dark in winter? if so perhaps black , but if not hed look fab in either

yeh why not! My dark bay has brown tack....

good quality english tack in brown. black tack is dyed hence the rub off when wet, though you do still get rub off in brown. dark havana oils up to a really good dark color

And I can't remember how she went in winter :embarrassed: I can remember that she changed in summer lol, but can't remember how.

Havana is the lovely dark brown of old tack not the reddy brown or bight sort of chestnut brown you see around.

Think chocolate brown......

I would always go with havana - black is a comparatively modern fashion partic in dressage but originally came from driving tack.

All my tack is black because it's easier to match that way, but I do think havana looks lovely on dark horses

Always brown tack, much more classy. Black tack tends to go grey gradually, brown gets a rich deep shine over the years of use..... providing you look after it well.

I would go for dark brown on her as it's correct for showing and looks better, saying that my steel grey is in black as it matches his black mane and legs!
