Hi,

Was just wondering if any of you have your tack covered with your NFU insurance. If so what are the conditions. I know some ins states it has to be locked away in a 5 bolt locking system. Ive recently just moved yards where I can lock my tack away, but i don't currently have it insured as I always took it home when I was at my other yard.

Thanks

I have my tack insured with NFU and I am pretty sure that they said it had to be locked away, I can't see anything in the policy about special locks etc. Might be best to check with them though.

I called them up and explained exactly where and how my tack is kept before I added it to my policy. It wasn't just the locks that was a issue, they asked about windows and what the tackroom was made out of.

Worth noting though even if you are not covered for theft, it can be worth insuring your tack. Say your horse fell and your saddle was damaged, then you could claim for that.

I spoke to my local NFU office about this a few days ago. I was advised as long as it was locked away I was covered.

You're also covered if your tack is in your car, it needs to be out of sight e.g. in the boot.

You are also covered for accidental damage
