What is the cheapest way to insure your tack? I need about £3000 of cover for my tack and it was going to bump my premium up by about £140 per year so I said no thanks! Can I get it insured with another company without insuring my horse through them? Or are there companies that do tack insurance separately?

Also, I have a receipt for my saddle, but got my bridles etc second hand or have had them for ages and no longer have receipts. My bridle and breastplate I use for competitions is worth about £400 together so would that be covered? or if it's stolen am I screwed because I don't have a receipt? at the moment it's at home so I know it's safe, but I'd like insured so that if I do leave it as the yard it is covered. Sods law says I'll forget it one evening and it'll get stolen!

And last question - what exactly does it cover? Does it cover rugs and everything else, just what the horse wears whilst being ridden (so boots and breastplates as well) or just saddle and bridle.

as far as aware only covers if locked in a room with 5 lever mortice lock and was locked at the time - can insure rugs and tack but if over a certain value they want receipts -
i recently sold my expensive saddle and i have bought a cheaper one and have decided to say bugger it dont need insurance for tack as so expensive and they dont always pay anyway.
