Does anybody know of any companies that can do an insurance policy solely for your tack, i.e. separate to that of your horse's policy?
Horse on loan is insured but tack is not; I want the policy just for peace of mind really as there are some rather fancy bits of equipment!

Be very careful when you take out Tack insurance, read the small print. You may well find that your saddle will not be covered. It is not 'tack' according to the insurance companies. You have to request your saddle is covered as an extra & give them details of it. Needless to say the value of a saddle can be a couple of hundred up to a couple of thousand, so ensure you check up.

Furthermore you may find that there is a clause in the policy that does not accept liability if your tack is kept in a tack room with more than a total of 6 liveries.

Basically don't just take out insutrance & think that you will be covered, ask questions & know what you are & are not covered for. It's too late once you've had your stuff stolen & your payout either is refused or reduced.

Oh, & before people think that this is probably from E&L Insurance it's not, it's from a company that many of us consider very reputable & regularly insure with.
