Mine goes in a lozenged NS snaffle with a cavesson noseband for schooling and hacking at home, and with a flash for Dressage at comps, strength wise could for SJ and XC too, however change it for a waterford Full cheek snaffle for SJ and XC with cavesson Noseband because assists with steering, and stops him putting his head on the floor without haveing to kick and haul!!

Maiden does everything in her loose ring lozenge bit and a cavesson, no martingale or anything else. She did go better when I borrowed a KK Ultra once so I am trying to find one that is cheap enough so she'll have one of those instead. I go to shows with my comfort bridle which has a crank cavesson, but I only have that because that bridle was the nicest one, not because she needs the crank or anything!
I am thinking of putting her in something stronger to start hacking her out again, she nearly kicked me this morning bucking on the end of the leadrope and I think she may have lost her 'donkey-ness' altogether! In which case if I need more control I'll probably put her in a French link Dutch gag with two reins, and ride her off the snaffle unless she decides to try and get the better of me. Generally she's fine in a snaffle and no extras though.

French link snaffle for the ponies (only because I don't think E is ready to use a hackamore), hackamore or bosal (or rope halter) for the QH's. No nosebands, martingales or anything and no-one to comment on my minimalist taste in tack. I like it here, in the UK I was always getting frowned at for riding with a one ear, no throatlash bridle.

NS Comfy Contact for RDA work, no noseband

School work, waterford loose ring, either no noseband or cavesson noseband - hangs big time on the forehand

Wateford Loose ring, loose flash and running martingale for hacking - going through a stage of bucking bronco

Congrats! How did you manage this? I would love to remove my martingale but my horse throws her head up all the time...
