Tack oil vs. Neatfoot oil?

Neatsfoot oil is made from an organic source (boiled cows feet, actually - a 'neat' is a bullock in old English), whereas leather oil is mostly mineral based. The difference? No idea.
 
NEATSFOOT OIL used on it's own, is a popular choice to condition modern hides BUT although modern neatsfoot oil is still made from cattle-based products, it has a tendency to speed oxidation of the leather.
If mineral oil or other petroleum-based material is added, the product may be called "neatsfoot oil compound".
Some brands have also been shown to be adulterated with rapeseed oil, soya oil, and other oils.
The addition of mineral oils may lead to more rapid decay of non-synthetic stitching or speed breakdown of the leather itself.

I was told recently that oiling can be bad for tack and so now I clean and use leather feed like stubben hamanol

I am scaling the production back as the of some of the raw ingredients just keep on going up and up and up, one ingredient has gone up over £2 a kg, this is unsustainable as it becomes far too expensive to make let alone sell it.
The next batch made will be my last for sale and I will just use what I have left myself on my own hides instead. I spend at least 2 whole days on 2 of the ingredients preparing them, so I do try to encourage people to make their own to the similar recipe I have given you on my site but I cannot show you that here or it's deemed advertising!
Believe me, I'd rather not make it as it takes too long and at the moment there isn't any for sale on my site anyway.

If you make the conditioner, be warned it's hard work to use as it's old fashioned with no artifical addiitives or spirits to make it easy to apply but if you persevere it pays off, a few people on here tried it and gave their results, most were good.
