No and No. I do put a flash on for schooling Pip driven, to discourage him from putting his tounge over his jaw. Yes, it is because he is resisting, but whatever way you look at it, collection is very hard for a bog pony, and opening his mouth is much easier. Ginga has a grackle for hacking, as he likes to go, and forgets to listen otherwise which could be dangerous. (Perfectly schooled in the school/jumping, just enjoys hacking).
 
ho hum...i must be pretty crap then as both my horses have flashes and martingales...

I made no reference to other people being crap becasue they didn't do what I would do.

In short, no I do not think you're crap for using a martingale and flash. It's just I would be trying other things if I had the same horse as you.
