I'm sure it's not just me who's slightly fanatical about things being stored nice and neatly in the tack room (alas, being a livery means I often end up tidying OTHER PEOPLE'S stuff also...) so I was wondering how you all store your horsey 'stuff'. Photo evidence of your OCD's please!!

Hehe.. is there an opposite of OCD? If so I have it! buckets all over the place, tack cleaning stuff mixed in with hoof oil and spare girths. I often lose things for months at a time and then find them crumpled at the back of some box or other I had forgotten was mine. Even lost a saddle for several months then found it again! Oops. Dont think you would enjoy my photos OP :)

Well my liveries have a chest freezer each so rugs and large items are stored there, they have a small trunk in tack room which they have room to store 1 or 2 if they double decker, I also have shelving for other items

Saddle cloths are stored in this -

Rugs are stored in a metal feed bin.

Exercise sheets and towels are in a cupboard.

I also have about 15 clear plastic flip top storage things that stack on top of each other (3 wide, 4 high) that store all my spare stuff....one for leather work, head collars, girths, lead ropes, grooming stuff, fly masks etc...

I like everything to have a home!

I like things nice and neat - but if someone else decided to "tidy up" my stuff there would be murder!

Luckily all the liveries were very happy to have me spend the afternoon sweeping, polishing and folding/tidying ;) I didn't quite go to the extremes of reorganising their belongings, rather just stacking the piles in a way that took up less than half the floor space!

You look like my kind of livery 3Beasties!

Sorry even "folding/tidying" oversteps the boundary - the rule is "DO NOT TOUCH MY STUFF"!

Our tack room is pretty neat but then there's only stuff for two horses in there.

We have a plastic drawer stack which has horse boots in the top two drawers, bandages etc in the third and medical/first aid on the bottom.

Then there are two trunks, these have saddlecloths, travel boots, exercise sheets, bandage pads and other bits in.

Above we have a selection of hooks for coats, then lunging equipment, then leather equipment, spare bridle bits, breastplates etc. Then bridle hooks although we could do with a couple extra as have two bridles on one peg!

Then saddle racks. In the corner is a box for rider boots, chaps etc. Then there's a row of wellies, battery for electric fence, various bits and pieces.

Then there is a set of wooden drawers with grooming kit in, I did have this all nicely organised with certain brushes in certain places but it just gets chucked back in there!

Next to that in the corner is a shelf with the radio on and under is a wicker basket we keep towels in.

All along that side is two big shelves, bottom shelf has fly spray, mane and tail spray, then a box with shampoos etc in, then a box with tack cleaning things in, another grooming box with old stuff in, then our hats all along there.

Above is mainly junk! But it's tidy junk!

We keep our rugs in the 'feed' room, we have 2 sets of the 3 arm rug racks, one side is turnouts, one side stable. With lightweights on left, medium in the middle, heavy on the right. And they all have their weight written on the label.

Yeah.. little bit obsessive.

Haha :D Luckily, you sound like you keep yours tidy anyway... I find people who sprawl their belongings all over the floor in shared spaces just as offensive personally!

Captain Bridget, sounds heavenly ;)

Im the messiest c o w you will ever meet and I would be mad if someone else tidied my stuff up!

I have a massive tack room to myself (2 converted stables into one room) and its a tip!! don't think I have any pics haha, but that's good, it would probably upset you all :)

i remeber years ago my mother saying the stables(at their house) were immaculate and tidy but your house(imagine raised eyes and "i give up with you "expression). And she was right. And she was right as stables were organised and tidy but house was clean(ish) but umm not tidy. My then husband said"what do you want on your grave stone - she lived for her horses or her house was tidy" .No arguement from me and my stable feed room etc will always be tidy organised and immaculate :))

I have a little tack room all to myself at the back of my stable and I love it, wouldn't want to have it any other way! When I moved in there was already a big metal cupboard at one end and that stores all my first aid stuff and random old boots etc. I should tidy it up and make more use of the space but as one of the doors is blocked with my feed bin this is a job for when my horse is living out in the summer and his stable gets painted etc!

I have hooks all along the back wall and a saddle rack so everything gets hung up, with bridles in bridle bags so they don't go mouldy and lunging kit in an old rug bag. On the opposite side, so the partition between the stable and the tack room I have a bar to hang rugs and exercise sheets on, so they provide a little curtain and you can't see my saddle etc. And I also manage to store a bale of hay and straw, 3 x feed bins, buckets, grooming kit and boots - it is a tiny space but I try to make good use of it!

Presumably your stuff isn't all over the place though?

My numnahs, girths etc are in a plastic box, my bandages are in an old rug bag, and my rugs are on rug hangers in the rug room and we have a shelving unit in the tea room for grooming boxes :) We have very limited space so have no choice but to be tidy!

My stuff all has it's own place! Luckily my yard has loads of storage space

Everything stored in plastic boxes, all labelled. Saddles and bridles all have a mini nameplate with them (very wierd when you consider it's just my yard and my tack room and my stuff!) I have wasted too many hours looking for stuff when not stored properly and then finding it eaten by mice. I hate knowing I have bought some thing and then not find it when need it. We moved recently and I LOVED sorting it all out. Sadly no pics though of obessessive compulsive disorder...
