Tack room storage tips!

I'm very lucky at my new yard I've been given a little secure tack room of my own - never had this luxury before! It's big enough to walk in etc & for a bunker but not huge. Therefore . . . . has anyone got any tips on storing all the obvious bits & bobs & to keep things organised? I'll be getting the obvious such as saddle & bridle racks for the wall but wondered about boots, saddle cloths etc to keep them tidy & easily accessible? Want to make the best use of space possible really.

I use either a big metal cupboard or one of the rectangular plastic garden chests for storage, with smaller plastic boxes inside. (Hope that makes Sense!)
 
I went to b&q and got some very useful boxes (literal name) the 84lt ones. They hold rugs and saddle cloths, bag and a half of feed great stuff.
 
Def plastic storage boxes if not too bothered about security (can lock metal cabinets)
Also, the plastic storage drawer sets are great. I have a couple with 4 drawers in, one small one has all vet/mets in - poultices in 1 drawer, vet wraps & gamgee etc in another, then scissors thermometers stethoscope and lots of latex gloves etc in another, 'drugs' washes and potions in another. Very easy & light to grab if required on the yard.
The larger one has sets of different bandages in it, as well as the top drawer having spare stuff for me - gloves for yard, riding gloves, spare bits & bobs.

I've just bought my 2nd set of garage storage shelves, under £25 each, and have a wide filing cabinet, really useful.
Any type of shelving is good as there is a limit to what you can put on the floor before you have to start moving stuff to get to the bottom.
 
Shelving and hooks .... Lots of hooks. I tend to raid Ikea when they have stuff on offer, they have great storage ideas and I'm always googling Ikea hacks, people are so clever. Really Useful Boxes (RUBS) are awesome.
 
Cheap shelves and cheap plastic storage boxes. Keeps out dust and vermin, makes it easy to find stuff. Feed in dustbins as well. Makes a lot of storage out of little space.
 
i bought some cheap plastic shelving unit from the DIY store. It has two shelves and is about 4 feet high. Very useful as I can tuck it under the saddle rack and store things on and under it. Also hooks are useful and I have loads of old rug bags stuffed with numnahs, bandages, travel boots etc.
 
I'm in almost the same situation as you and came up with an idea on the weekend. I don't know what they're called but the fabric pockets that you hang on the back of doors or on walls to put shoes in - hanging shoe organiser maybe? Well the pockets perfectly fit a pair of horse boots, I don't even have enough pairs to fill it - £4.50 in ikea!
 
seen a picture/post on fb doing the rounds about saddle racks made out of large round tubs attached to the wall and grooming kits/boots etc can be stored in the saddle rack so to speak.

I have mixture of shelves, clear plastic boxes and metal filing cabinet

With 4 farm cats around I'm more worried about finding dead ones outside the stables :D - like the poor headless moorhen that was left for me as a present the other week :|
 
Ooooh, I love a good bit of tack tidying (I hope I'm not on my own there). I recently bought some plastic draws, they're not the prettiest but they do the job. Helps to keep out damp too (I put a lot of my spare leathers in it). Got it from Pound Land for a fiver. My tack space is a little bit on the limited side, so I'll definitely be taking some tips on board too!!
 
I've been very lucky as my work are going paperless, so I've acquired a 4 draw filing cabinet, which I have at one yard, keep loads of stuff in there and at my other yard, I have some racking from the old stationery cupboard, which is about 10 foot high with lots of shelves, so I can keep all of my rugs on there to keep them out of the way! but I'm lucky I have a nice tall tack room, in a barn, at that yard! the racking wouldn't have fitted at the other yard.

I use the plastic garden storage boxes too. I'm sure I saw them on offer somewhere really cheaply the other day but cant' remember where. Might be worth a google.

ETA - just remembered, it was Costco. I think they were about £40.

I have a plastic garden storage box, some plastic drawers, an old kitchen cupboard, and lots of hooks! Store rugs in stable on a strung up bit of twine against one wall
 
I had a tackroom at the back of my stable too, long and thin and had lots of storage boxes but found I got mad trying to get to things! Anoher livery suggested getting as much off the floor as poss as it creates the illusion of more room. I did this and it was so much better. Hooks, shelves and 2 rug racks like you have in horseboxes, plus a feed bin an a set of drawers.
 
I use storage boxes for storing my stuff. We have a pile of moving boxes from Burlington and we brought it for storing our kitchenware and utensils during our last renovation. I am using those for storing my bath towels and other stuff. I just wrapped the boxes with thick colorful wrappers and placed my bath towels, toys, mobile phone accessories in it. It gives me additional storage space and helps me to keep the home more organized. I have seen online DIY shoe rack

and I have plans to make one such for my home.
 
i personally don't like the chests as i find things can get burried. Filling cabinets are good so are shelves as each thing can have its own space. I would also reccomend a few extra hooks for bits, breastplates ect
