I'm going to stay at the inlaws in a couple of weeks, and would like to do some horsey shopping whilst I'm there!

Which are the best ones? They live near the Trafford Centre. I went to one near there, which was absolutely terrible. Only stocked premier equine stuff.

Might be a bit of a trek but what about Robinsons Country Leisure near Haydock, just go straight down the A580 from Manchester.

You'll be hard pressed finding anything round here, lol.

There's a massive Decathlon in Stockport that has an Equestrian section but other than that, I don't think there's anything decent!

There's Horse Bits in Ramsbottom which is good, but it's the other side of manchester to you, and for the same time you're better off going to Robbies. It's good though if you've not been before...?

What about peak dale saddlery, Isnt that around that area. But I dont have a clue so dont shout.
I dont really know that far out, I know near Oldham way as thats where I am from.

There's a place in Flixton which is very near the trafford centre - known as Jim Taylor's but unfortunately I can't remember it's proper name. I can find out. Or there's Estate Supplies in Ashley/Hale but it's quite expensive. Derby House would be about an hour's drive or just under but in the same direction as Robinsons.

Depends on what your looking for, if its bits and bobs then Robinsons is great, if you want nice clothing or more expensive rugs etc you could try Derby House. Horsebits is a nice shop but a not a great choice on the clothing section. Theres also Naylors in Rochdale, Ive not been but it was taken over not so long ago and Ive heard its good.

L for Leather in Irlam is quite near there but its not massive -Estate Supplies is good for a wander round. Derby House used to be really good before they changed hands

In fact I cant think of any really good ones - I tend to do all my shopping online now !
Hey Oldham people whats happening with Hackworths ? Did I see a sign saying it was open again or did I dream it ..

Oh I have no idea, not heard about that one.
I do a lot of my shopping online but do sometimes go to the tackshops near me as got quite a few to choose from.

I meant I go to them in the Ashton Area but have been told there are a couple in Oldham.
Not any of the names you mentioned. I will ask friends today and find out what they are called.

naylors is really nice now its been taken over. good range of clothes and show stuff. and i only live 2 mins away!!
i would second derby house as being worth a drive- if only to have some chips in the cafe, they are AMAZING!!!!

Unfortunately all the areas you are naming are meaningless to me

Asked OH who is from manchester - apparently robinsons is an hour drive (Wigan) from Trafford/Flixton.

The one in flixton is terrible. I'll have a hunt through the yeller pages!

Robinsons is about 20 minutes drive from the Trafford Centre and it's about a further 15 minutes up to Derby House. I think your OH doesn't want to go tack shopping!!!

Estate Supplies is border of Wilmslow/Hale/Ashley and will take at least 25 minutes to half an hour from the Trafford Centre. There is a small tackshop between Sale and Altrincham on the A56 probably 15 minutes from the Trafford Centre but I have never been inside it.

Hi Nuala,

Bits and Pieces on the A56 has moved! It is now on a livery yard off Sinderland Lane, Broadheath.

Jim Taylors as was, now Robinsons carry quite a good range of stock but I suspect they are pricey. They are close to Trafford Centre though - exit the M60 at Stretford, and head for Urmston, turn left immediately after the Total petol station.

Estates Supplies is good, but a bid pricey - very "Cheshire set" , but really nice people there. Worth the drive I think. Junction 6 off M56, through Hale Barns, left down Park Road, left onto Ashley Road and a few hundred yards after the railway bridge.

Bowlers is not in Hazel Grove ! Its Offerton!! Again good stock and knowledgeable staff. Tricky to find if you don't have local knowledge. Its on the Offerton to Marple road, just after the petrol station.

It shouldn't take an hour to get from the Trafford Centre to Robinsons at Haydock. It is only a couple of junctions up the M60 to the East Lancs, and then about 15 minutes along there.
