Yup, try Horse World (look in the yellow pages - i have zero sense of direction!) and Clare's Saddelry. There's loads really, best to look at yellow pages or an online directory
if you are looking for something a bit different or special I would recommend Houghton Equestrian, which is at Heddon on the Wall. Or a bit further afield is Thinford saddlery (in Durham).
another vote for Horseworld here! Thinford would be quite a treck from Newcastle city centre, but Horseworld is straight off the A1 south of the metro centre
Thanks all for your replies. I'm actually going to be staying right next to the Metro Centre. Will have a look on-line at your recommendations. I need to buy a new rug and I always like a bit of a new shop to have a look for something different.
I used to work once a week in newcastle and each time visited horseworld, they have loads of stock you do have to rummage but always found it good value!
I popped into Horseworld recently when I was in the NE and picked up a pair of Ariat Bromonts for £165!! However, I felt that the shop was soo cluttered and overstocked that I couldn't actually see what they had . Things hanging down from low beams and at 5' 10" I had to duck a bit. If you don't mind rummaging or spending ages looking for what you want they'll probably have it, they certainly have tons of stock!
