My good (British) friends who now live in the US are in Didcot right now, and want to go tack shopping.

What tack shop has a great selection within an hour of Didcot? Web searches aren't showing much.

thanks!

I work in Harwell a lot but live in Swindon so traverse the area quite a bit. There's a lot of horses around but not much that I have seen in the way of tack shops.

There's EJ Wickes in Lambourn- it's really small but seems pretty well stocked. There's White Horse Feeds in Childrey, it mostly does feeds and supplements (guess the clue is in the name) very friendly staff, use them a lot.

There's the big Robinsons at Basingstoke if they get on to the a34 then the A339 that's probably within an hour's travel of Didcot .

There's also Wadswicks at Corsham- bit more a trek but quite nice place, lots of saddles, has a tea shop and everything.

There's also a Countrywide near Thame somewhere but I have only been there once, and I am sure I have heard people say there's one near Witney too.

RB Equestrian near Milton Keynes is within striking distance. If you wanted to make a day of it there is Tower Farm near Rugby and Harley Equestrian near Towcester. All not far from the A5

Harley Equestrian has been mentioned but I'll second it because it's got a nice tea room, big tack/horse section plus a country lifestyle type area which is nice to look at. It's off down some country lanes near Banbury so check your directions first so you don't think you're getting lost!

A bit further down the A34 there's Calcutt's in Sutton Scotney, which has a fab selection of quality used saddles - vastly better than the muck you'll find in Robinsons, and interesting too.
