When we're down in Kent visiting family I can't move for tack shops (obviously exaggerating a bit 😂) but up here in Edinburgh there's only Decathlon and Go Outdoors as far as I know. Would love to have a physical shop to browse in, I'm looking for a new grooming kit, pads etc and would like to see in person.

I don't mind driving for up to an hour, but prefeably less. Does anyone know of aby good ones?

Look for Country stores..McCaskies..Harbro..that type of place as they stock equestrian stuff. If you drive then at Falkirk there is Russell’s ..at Milnathorpe there is a tack shop I’ve forgotten the name of..TPO may be along later and she may have more knowledge of places closer to Edinburgh.

It was the ‘browse’ comment that led me to suggest Hendry’s. They have a good selection of everything (horse and rider kit), and lots of top brands.
Harbro is good for the horse basics (feed, bedding, grooming kit) but rider kit is basic.
Drum feeds is good for feed/bedding but has less options on rider kit (caveat is I’ve not been there for a couple of years).
Those are the shops I use and am aware of.

The shop in Milnathort is The Tack Room. It’s got a good selection and the staff are very helpful. If you’re up there, I recommend a visit to Heaven Scent, a lovely cafe.

There’s also a Carrs Billington in Milnathort, and another feed/country store nearby at Loch Leven, although I can’t remember the name.

There used to be one in the centre of Edinburgh near Haymarket I think, back in the 90s! I got my first riding hat and body protector there, I loved that shop!! My granny used to take me when I’d go visit her, unbelievable to think of a tack shop in central Edinburgh now! 😂 Or any major city! Doesn’t help you now but just reminiscing 😂

I think it was Stirlingshire on Morrison street, plus another which I can't remember! Sad there are so few around now.

I lived in Edinburgh until fairly recently, and it was frustratingly difficult to find a good tack shop to browse in. I think I went to Drum for a hat, and bought other odds and ends online, but I much prefer to see what I’m buying. And it’s lovely to just smell all the tack and such.

sure that was a Stirlingshire saddlery lol long gone but got my first stuff there as well

I bought stirrup leathers and stitrups online, and the stirrups were too narrow at the top so couldn't get the leathers through! So hoping to try them on the leathers before I buy.

I'll take a look at your suggestions. Thank you everyone.
