I have a meeting tomorrow near York. Travelling up from the Midlands and want to avoid the traffic so will probably travel early and have some time to spare. Has anyone got any good tack shop recommendations? Could do with a new competition shirt, some plaiting stuff and a smart coat.
Will be skirting around Leeds area to get to where I’m going.

R&R near Selby would probably be your best shout, Iron Horse ne Doncaster also good but probably a bit out of the way. There’s also Foxes at Wetherby although they can be a bit on the pricey side and a smaller shop than the other 2 mentioned.

R&R Country in Selby.

Naylors / Go Outdoors at Vangarde York is a bigger one, they have a simulator etc.

Robinsons in Malton near York.

Probably out of your way but there’s also Equiflair in Bradford and Beaver Horse Shop in Harrogate.

Are James Fox at Wetherby still going?
Frosts or Holdsworths at Bawtry? Racing and hunting type shops, used to be fab!

I would think that Throstle Nest is the easiest to get to, just a short distance off the MI, easy to pop back on to finish your journey. It's not a massive site but a lot of varied stock, with good quality clothing.
Is Robinsons still there in Malton?
Equiflair have moved since I was last there but historically the shop hasn't had much stock, it's all stored for online customers.

Thanks all. It’s looking like Throstlenest is the best bet. Especially with a cafe ! I’ll definitely be in need of a coffee

Throstlenest definitely a good choice, knowledgeable staff good stockist of everything for horse stable and rider. www.throstlenestsaddlery.co.uk 3 easy miles from junction 37 on the M1. And yes a lovely cafe. It is set well back from the road, you want Moorends Lane when the housing ends it is the single lane road to the left 50yards/metres before the bridge with a public footpath sign, there is NOT a sign saying TNS but it's the big stone property you can see on the right from the road with a car park immediately past it. They are open 10:00 till 5:00 on Friday. It looks small when you enter but there are upstairs and ground floor with various rooms. Note the cafe is open 10:00 till 4:00 Welcome to Yorkshire.

How long has Throstle Nest had a cafe? I've never seen it and I've usually got a sixth sense for them. We usually go to The Pot House for lunch when we've been to TNS. Thinking back it is quite a while since I've been, we were talking to Diana (RIP).

Over a year now, as you go up towards the shop it's the stone building on the right it used to be the stables where they use to keep all the rugs, a nice large open space cafe you can eat inside or tables and chairs outside for sunny days, go and enjoy. 10:00 till 4:00 Thursday till Monday, it is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and dogs are allowed in aswell. It opened September 2023.

Well unfortunately I didn’t make it to Throstlenest. My meeting time got moved so I wouldn’t have made it before the meeting and by the time I’d finished I decided it’d be prudent to get home before the traffic got worse.
I was disappointed but My bank balance was relieved
