Back in horse ownership for five minutes and already collecting "stuff" like it's going out of fashion. Any suggestions for some sort of box with racks in for 2 saddles (one is a cub saddle), a bridle, couple of hats etc. I can keep it in the shed but I want something to prevent everything getting dusty or chewed. Slightly mobile would be good too...

You can often find secondhand Ifor Tack Packs for around £100, room for 2 saddles, bridles, a rug or 2, and a handy box for bits and pieces. Don't know if that is a bit expensive though?

A large chest freezer is what you want. They're usually free to a good home when broken. Look in your local paper or on Freecycle. They're mould proof, vermin proof and you can screw/rivet some security brackets to lock it.

I've had mine for 25yrs and it's still going strong, having been moved a couple of times. I could get 3 or 4 saddles in it, lots of bridles, a pile of clean saddlecloths or whatever.

If you do happen to put your saddle in it damp, buy some of the moisture drawing crystals which are about £3 a pot from a 'crap and tat' shop!

I have one of these and they are very useful and lockable.

Thanks guys. I like the sound of the tack pack that's not a bad price at all.

We used to have a chest freezer as a feed store but I need to be able to move it as I need the shed empty for lambing time. As we don't have a posh trailer (cattle trailer) the tack pack would be very handy for that too :)

Well done!

I don't mean to sound like a stalker, but I think you may live quite near me - I recognise your pony as one that a girl I know was selling! Gorgeous pony, I was very tempted but have a colt here, so a mare wasn't really an option :)
