My horse and I are just about to start our first ever livery agreement (YIPEE) but I'm looking for suggestions on where to buy a strong box to hold my bits and pieces of tack. I was thinking of something in stainless steel that could be locked but can't see anything really suitable (or affordable) on any of the online shops. Or should I just get some kind of a big plastic box that you'd get from a local B&Q and hope for the best that my lower value stuff doesn't get lost/go missing. What do you reckon? For those on livery yards, what do you have for storage and what do you recommend?

Mine is frm Robinsons. Its metel, tall and has two saddle racks, hooks on the inside, a shelf and two bridle hooks on the inside of the door - which locks of course. Its great, but not cheap. I think it cost me about £160 and that was about three years ago! I know they still do them. You should find them if you check out their catalogue or the website.

If the purpose-made tack boxes are too expensive for you, how about a secure large tool box from www.screwfix.com or B and Q. Or even cheaper, a recycled chest freezer. Stainless steel would be very heavy and expensive - you are probably looking at some variety of painted steel. Don't forget ventilation - leather tack may go mouldy without it.
