Please be aware that our tackroom was broken into at 02.32 hours tonight it took them under 5 minutes to smash in the door and clear out our tack room, it was a small dark hatchback car, like a Peugot 206.

We do have CCTV and the police are looking at this, along with our neighbours CCTV. They took 10 saddles and 15 bridles. The door was smashed through as they could not get through the locks triggering the alarms but even this didnt make them leave, they cleared out the room first.

We live on site, the dogs woke me as they drove down the drive, by the time I had called the police and given details they were gone.

The worst part is adding up what is gone, we are very underinsured, so please everyone double check your security and insurance policies.

Feel totally sick, not only have they come on my property, but taken stuff I have worked long and hard for over many many years.

Oh no that's awful.

I'll keep an ear to the ground...twice I've had some *cough* undesirabe local gentlemen stop and offer me some tack and rugs, which I'm quite certain wasn't theirs to sell, so will drop you a PM if I hear of anything as I'm only a few miles away.

I was going to offer some spare tack to borrow if it's any good but by that amount I assume you're a livery yard? If so it's probably no good to you. But if needed I have 16.5 narrow thorowgood and a cob size bridle I could loan to you if any good?

Again, I'm very sorry this has happened to you.

Thank you, a lot of the tack is very distinctive.

We are not a livery yard, this is just my horses tack that I have collected over years and years, worse still there are 3 new saddles I have just bought, and was going to ebay the 3 they replaced.

Just feeling gutted now. Hopefully the police can pull all the info of the CCTV and SOCO are coming at some point today, just waiting now till 9 to get contractors in to fence, gate, more security lighting, additional alarm the place. Talk about feeling unsafe now in your own home.

Yes I think it did, it was dark down the drive but that is how I described it to the police, they have actually taken away our CCTV so I cant check, but I will double check with them today.

Thank you.

huni thats awfull. I hope they find the bas****s that did this and get all your tack back.
There have been a few break inns in our area where they even took my friends Tralier to! why cant people just earn a decent and honest living!
If you need any tack for now I have some spare bits so just yell. Ill be more than happy to post them to you

Sorry to hear about the burglary.

Please contact Horsewatch as a matter of urgency so that the details of the tack can be immediately circulated around the country. You will need the police incident number.

www.ukhorsewatch.org.uk

Also tack mark all the replacement tack as soon as you get it. Your local police will have the equipment to do it or alternatively you can buy a kit for doing it from Halfords. (Rolson Quality Tools - 38 piece automatic number and letter stamp 26138).

Be aware that in many cases the thieves return after a few weeks to steal the replacement tack).

How shattering for you, what else could you possibly do.
You live on site
Barking dogs
Secure locks
CCTV
Alarms
I hope they get the g*ts that did it.

that's horrible!! barstewards! I hope they find who out who did it!!

Shows that you can take out all the necessary safety precautions and still they manage to get in and take everything!

What else can you do to prevent this happening? Jeeeeeeeeez!!!

Very sorry to hear this, I live the other side of A17, got an email from Sam at Meadowbrook telling of the incident. Will be extra vigilant too. I have just rang home to tell hubby to lock everything up as we are sometimes a bit laid back!! Have also told him not to quieten dogs when they're barking.

I can't believe they move so quickly, takes me forever to unlock my barn door and yet they can be in, out & away in minutes. I really hope you will be lucky enough to get some or all of your stuff back.

I'm sure between all of us locals, if there's anything you need to borrow until you get sorted, we can help out.

oh god, poor you! what a horrible invasion, not to mention how much you've lost. you poor thing, i'd be devastated.

again, if there's anything i can lend you, please let me know. i can't ride at the mo, so all my tack is not being used.

we've got tonnes of brand new post and rail fencing sitting on the edge of our driveway right next to the road.... and haven't got round to putting locks etc on the outbuildings... eeek, think i'll bring all my tack inside tonight and get OH to move fencing into the garden.

p.s. i just moved into the area... and have a little dark grey hatchback... promise it wasn't me though!

OMG.. Thats awful and so close!! Will definitely be more careful about locking everything up in future!

Hope you manage to get at least some of it back, Somebody mentioned there is an equestrian sale at Pigeons Farm coming up, chances are they'll sell it through somewhere they are less visible, but it might be worth a look?

Maybe post a list of anything you need to borrow until you get sorted? if I have anything of any use you are welcome to it!

hi, OH was in Wisbech today and saw a likely car, has registration, if you could describe car more fully pls. pls describe spoiler, colour of car if pos, and spoiler colour, as i wouldn't want to accuse anyone totally innocent...!
