Tactless but... What's the most you've Paid?

£7000. I mostly pay around the 5k - 6k mark (I have 3 horses, and they're all good ones!). I've tried more expensive horses, but I can't ride them!

And Canteron - that is exactly what I did! The same budget, but I ended up spending £7000 on a 4 year old instead, who has turned out just wonderful.

I'm pretty sure I now know the type of horse that suits me best - quite a middleweight build with a big shoulder to sit behind, very forward going, and one which has been jumped by an amateur, preferably a girl, or just done riding club stuff and not fully realised its sj potential.
 
Friend wanted to progress in dressage and her cheapie (a cracker) could not go any further so she spent £22K on a 4 yr old.
It was a spoilt baby precious and frightened her to death, until the vet got on it and gave it the blue pipe treatment.
 
Back in 1997 £6,750 for a schoolmaster who really was the definition of school master, he taught me everything and more and was priceless. Never any glimmer of a problem with him, he was absolutely perfect in every way.

A girls Mum at the yard I'm currently at has just paid £80k for a HOYS winner. Not sure what but probably a jumper as she only ever seems to tear around the indoor school at 100mph over a course of jumps! Current pony is now too small but I think was also purchased for around the £50k mark! Lovely Mum and daughter but I don't half balk at the cost of things they mention, Mum needs to hope daughters growth spurt ends soon as she outgrew last pony in just over a year!!
 
Mine was £4,000 with nothing included as a just broken and gelded 5 rising 6 year old in 2005. Worth it, definitely as still have him but wouldn't pay that now in this market
 
Years ago paid 4.5k for a 148 pony four my daughter who ended up being totally unsuitable, bucked, reared, and basically wanted to kill anyone who rode him. Had him reschooled, back xrayed and checked, tack checked, teeth done and still had to part with him......rode like a dream for the small man who had him off me but nightmare for all females even two riding instructors trainers were thrown into oblivion. Was given a small TB for free who had a slight heart murmer so worthless to owner....he jumps Newcomers with same daughter......what a star.
