Yes as he is really long so will easily be able to touch the end of the box. Stops him rubbing his tail and making it look like a bog brush was my main reasoning!
Have seen horses rub tail to the point of bleeding! And on a vain note it makes a mess of the tail if they travel with nothing on it!
For short journeys eg to the beach I just use a neoprene tail guard, much less messing about, if going further afield tail bandage with guard over the top.
sometimes.
...no coz she doesnt touch the back of trailer (ifor so back bar is set forward) and when she is in season and excited I dont always trust her to stand behind her for that long!
..yes coz feel like I should as its what I was taught in pony club , when she is not in season its not a dangersport and when excited she makes such a mess of her tail!
hmm, my reasons for wearing one seem a little cosmetic!
I shall give mine ...I am not going to bandage after having bandaged missy and tommy ...First off ....They were not tight, but obviously where annoying for them , Both have tried to rub the bandage off , Tommys tail is recovering and the hairs growing back nicely .
Missys is in the process of looking like shes got sweetitch
....Balmoral on thursday arrrrghhhh
.
I travelled the pair of them last year without using a tail bandage at all , No rubs , no nothing . Nice tails .
And now both within their first outing , I get 2 poorly tails
Yes because when i took darcy out the box a little while ago, he had ripped right through all of it! If it wasnt for the bandage, it'd have been his tail which im already struggling to keep , without him hacking it off himself
I do, either to protect the plait, or in El's case to keep it flat because she does have the bog brush syndrome (although lessened by my pulling today!).
I bandage and I'm very good at it probably because I bandage using the Spica method which does not have any specific pressure points and is actually a nursing bandage used for securing broken limbs without becoming a tornique.
I bandage when travelling her because she leans on the side on the box and rubs her tail. If it's not bandaged it looks like a loo brush when she gets out
