Tail guard/ tail bandage issue

I am losing the will with my horses tail and travelling.

She has always rubbed anything on her tail off when travelling, tail bandages, tail guards are both swiftly removed no matter the mode of transport- big boxes, small boxes, trailers.
Thought we’d cracked it with a neoprene tail guard but that worked for about a year and now she disposed of that too. Now she’s developing a bald spot where she rubs herself.
Any recommendations?

Gosh yes remember those old style tail guards. Not seen one for years. Had a blue and yellow one that matched the rug and roller.
