Arabi is rubbing his tail raw and I can't understand why his never done it before, his not rubbing anything else its not particularly bad with insects at the moment.

I wash it with warm water everyday then put propolis gel on it and the spray with zinc oxide spray and he sort of stopped but his done it again, I have to be really careful with what I put on his skin as he reacts to so much I really don't like trying new stuff.

I washed his sheath thinking it might be that and it wasn't particularly bad and I was thinking maybe pin worm but his never had it before.

Should I just worm him just incase?

Or am I missing something?

The damp weather has brought the midges out in force. My old cob started rubbing and scratching his mane and tail when we turned out in April. When grooming him I was alarmed to see tiny midges burrowing into his mane, so out came the shampoo to remove the scrurf, and on went the full neck fly rug.

They were bad early summer but don't seem that bad round here now can't see any other bites or anything in either of my horses.

If you look under his tail in the morning you might see some yellow crusty stuff, that's pinworm. You could try keeping his bottom clean then applying vasaline over night so the worms can't take hold ( if it is pinworm)

I have been checking it but not see anything to indicate its that but will clean it and then check afterwards.

Can't use vaseline his had a reaction to it in the past😒
