My cob has a very thick, bushy, manky tail that i really need to sort out.

He's hogged and trimmed everywhere, so it needs to be smartened up, and lessened so that i can brush it!!

I have been having a go at pulling it, but teddi will let me for so long then he says hes had enough.

So im wondering can i just take some scissors to the top of it (also using a comb)

Then just go from left to right at the top of the tail to thin it out, and then down the sides to shape???

TBH any way i do it its going to look a mess first time round.

what do you think?

try a solo comb or an ordinary razor blade, my welsh mare hated being pulled but like yours it had to be done, and this worked very well for me.

NO don't use scissors!!! Scissors wont thin it it will just grow back like a bog brush!! just pull a bit everyday, i never pull a tail completely in a day. If he is a complete toad twitch him and back him up to a door and pull him over that>

tail.mane thinners are great! I "pull" my horses tail by really quickly picking the longer hairs out and finishing with scissors..looks no different to a pulled tail
