It really depends on what your dog needs. Does your dog have any specific dietary requirements, allergies, intolerances etc?

Tails is very overpriced for what it is imo, you can get better kibble for less. Out of the two I'd definitely go for Arden Grange, which is a good brand and better value.

Having said that, kibbles with maize aren't the best. I'd use Skinner's Field and Trial lamb in preference in the low/mid price bracket, which contains brown rice and barley. I don't feed chicken based food as some of my dogs have been intolerant to it, as many are, it has high antibiotic residues (given prior to slaughter), and also the ratio of omega 3:6 is too high in favour of omega 3, which promotes inflammation. I think lamb is one of the best protein sources as it's hypoallergenic, grass fed, and they don't get given the drugs that intensively reared animals do. Fish is good too.

For a bit more than the cost of Skinner's or Arden Grange you could get something like Lukullus, Markus Muhle, Nourish or Canine Choice, which are better quality than the above. Canine Choice has a 60% meat or fish content, which is very good. I gave my boy the salmon one, and he had an amazingly shiny coat. Lukullus, Markus Muhle and Canine Choice get very good scores on allaboutdogfood. Nourish looks almost as good as CC, with a 50% meat/fish content, that's the next one I'm going to get for my greyhound.

I've heard that Tails is overpriced for what it is, out of the two I'd go for Arden Grange. As the Tails food doesn't state that it's chicken meal, it may be fresh chicken which sounds good but is about 2/3 water, so when you subtract that it brings the meat content down a lot.

I don't know if Nourish is rated on allaboutdogfood, but Canine Choice, Lukullus and Markus Muhle are, and get good scores.[/QUO

Have you worked out what cost per day you can afford? You can filter on allaboutdogfood to your maximum price per day, and then look at the ratings for each.
Without knowing your dogs weight, it would seem the two you're looking at work out at roughly the same cost per day, but whereas Tails only has around a 56% rating, the Arden Grange Puppy is rated at 73%. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go for the Arden Grange, but it would be worth checking out what else is available in your price bracket to see if there's anything a bit better rated.

Out of the two choices I would go for Arden Grange. Tails is cleverly advertised to be tailored to specific individual needs but actually just seems to be a few varieties of the same kibble.
