Tak Lockers/Tack safe

Anyone got any advice on Tack Lockers that can be kept out of doors??????

I have a secure area where I can keep my tack but my 19 year old mare is now jealous of my partners new horse and is flinging her saddle around!!! It's been on the same rack for 3 years now and has never moved until the new horse arrived! Needless to say I'm none too happy about her throwing her expensive bit of leather around!

Also now with 2 horses we have a multitude of other neccessary things that need safe dry storage. Would be idea if we could store them safely outside away from equine teeth and tempers!!!

Fortunately my mares behaviour in all others areas has improved greatly, think she's trying to prove she's better than the new one!!!

Any help greatly appreciated.

i have one of the robinsons tack lockers but don't think they'd stand up to ourdoor use. What about getting a bike shed thing and using that instead- very secure, waterproof and you can add racks etc for saddles. not sure on heights but we have one that fits 4 bikes so plenty of room

We have an old offshore container - you can get them quite small now too.

Thanks for that info. Those storage solutions might be just the ticket.

Ideally something slightly smaller would be better but I'll get the OH out with his tape measure!

Where would we get the offshore locker?

We used to have a container that was about 10 x 8 so they're not that huge. We lined ours with plywood so that we could hang rug rails / saddle racks and ran electricity into it. Worked fine!

Try a haulage company - they often have them / know where to get them. They're also known as storage containers.

if you get in touch with Pat ruck at www.sporthorsecentre.com she can help you out, they had some really nice stainless steal ones, lockable with saddle rack inside and other bits, she can give you more details but really reasonable in price!
