Hi all this is my mare I have had her 1 year. I bought her advertised as a connie x ID she is 15.2hh, very sweet gentle mare but quite spooky in general. She is also as stubborn as they come lol but i love her and she can be very capable. I wondered if you might take a look and give me your opinion if this is an accurate description of her likely breeding. Passport just says unknown when it was done in Ireland.

Well she's definately Connice cross, I'd say could even be 3/4 connie-I didn't bother registering mine when they're not full breds so it's prob a nice mare on con stallion. does she jump? if so maybe jumping unreg'd mare and connie sire or visa versa. looks a lovely tpye. I second the not id-i've crossed this too, and they're much buttier and stronger of bone for this cross.
nice mare enjoy!

doubting the id: she doesnt look heavy enough. ;)

she looks very sweet, and reminds me a little of my mare whisper- but mainly just her colouring and the connemara look! whisper is arab/conn x welsh/arab, so has quite a different head to yours. ;)

ets: whisper was as scatty as they come! there was something hideous and deadly around every corner waiting to get her.... i loved it though! liked a bit of fire under me!! :D i put that down to the arab blood though!! now she is a bit older she is bombproof and solid as a rock... but we had to dice with death for a good few years to get there!!

xx

thanks for nice comments all :-) we have our moments but i love her to bits ! I also doubt the ID as she just doesnt seem heavy enough ...until she in trotting towards you she has quite a wide front and a large ass! She will jump, shes a machine xc or outside but has a little trouble getting herself together inthe school, she wasnt built for tight turns! Im also thinking a fair amount of connie in there. I had considered in furture putting her in foal to a connie stallion , but thats a maybe

I have one that is part connie, looks similar to yours and has same colouring- also extremely stubborn by coincidence! if she doent like something i.e trailer or going in to a certain field (which shes been in a million times) she will wave her legs out and play hopscotch until one of us gives in, I never give in lol

May I ask what the name is on the mares passport and how old she is? I can't see the photobucket pictures as my computer won't let me access PB. Or could any of you lovely people post the picture on this thread. Many thanks.

name on passport is Cilgetti Brandy and foaled 2003. Parents unknown. bred by a D dempsey in Ireland . Sorry you cannot see photo can I do anything to change that?

Defo your Connemara 'type', in total agreement with the others - I can't see a hint of ID myself. She has many classic 'conny' features within the face, lovely thick tail - could there be a hint of TB maybe? She's very pretty ;)

My mare came over the water and she was also of unspecified breeding. She has a pretty pony face, she gets her 'winter woolies' quite early in the autumn and she has a thick wavy tail so I suspect Connie in there somewhere. What do others think? I've had her 7 years and I love her to bits. She's 15.11/4 and 14 years old (I think!)

Hi there, It was a very long shot but I thought that she may be by younsters dam, she was sold a year or so ago and was connie x tb, but was passported as mistress, so no such luck :(
