Take part in a research study on equine caregiver experiences with mares and mare-specific behaviour.

Tried but gave up; I’ve had lots of mares in my life and they’ve been all over the place from wouldn’t know it was happening to flirting with anything vaguely male in the place to actually stressed and upset behaviour. Very wide ranging, and I found the questions were very generalised.

Yeah, mine too. My gelding is way moodier than my mare.

Even with an individual mare, their seasons (and behavioural changes if they have any) will vary.

The little white gelding that mine shares a field with can only be turned out with mares so fortunately I’ve only had mares as I can’t deal with grumpy men 😂

I completed it as best I could. I also found it hard having had 4 very different mares. All lovely in their own ways of course.

I've had my gelding for 13 years and he's always been a grouchy boy. he's being treated for ulcers, for the 2nd time, at the moment. but even without that he's never really been keen on being groomed, he's only interested in people when it comes to dinner time! both mares I've had will pull faces, especially at other people, but they've both loved me and loved attention, grooming etc. i feel like once you've got a bond with a mare they will look after you at all costs!

Sorry to hear this. I'm not sure why the link hasn't worked for you and I will look into it. Thank you for trying though!

Thank you to everyone for your feedback which is extremely valuable.

We can only make use of it however, if it is within the results of the questionnaire, clearly this is a subject that people are passionate about - which is why your opinions matter. No questionnaire can cover the rich breadth and depth of opinion that we have on a topic such as this. But it has been designed to start to tease out what people might feel and the free text boxes are where you can get all of your personal thoughts recorded.

We are sorry to those of you who feel you are writing the same thing on repeat, if you want to capture your thoughts in one of the free text boxes you can then only add what is different for other boxes or put 'as previously'.

Those who have found it boring or felt their answers were too boring - thank you for attempting the survey and please be assured that there are no 'boring' answers and essays are at your discretion but not essential.

Surveys are wholly reliant on the contributions of those who respond to provide any meaningful insight so we are very grateful to those who have responded so far!

Hello,

Had a look into this and it sounds as though the likely reason is a conflict between the browser and the survey website stopping them interacting. The suggested fixes are clearing cookies and browser cache. Also browser extensions like ad-blockers might interfere so temporarily disabling those might help.

Thanks and hope this helps.

It’s most unlikely that anyone trying to help you out by completing your survey is going to go to those lengths. I suggest that sorting the issues out at your end would be more beneficial.

It might be an iOS operating system incompatibility, if everyone else sees the survey on their windows based pc/laptop or android phone?

I’ve tried safari ipad (with and without ad blocker) - wont open, error message.
I’ve tried chrome browser on ipad - same as safari - ‘application error’ message.
Chrome tells me the link is a secure website so its not blocking on security issues.

I cant clear cache and cookies as i have multiple browser windows and tabs open/logins live - i’d lose all that. (I did that once accidently!)

I’ll try your survey on my laptop later - will update if it works there.

P.s - other surveys posted on this forum usually work fine, never had an issue before with iOS and survey sites.
